First Look at the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 UB
Released on 14-Feb-08
The Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 UB is Epson's newest addition to their Home Cinema line. Like all of the other projectors in the series, the 1080 UB features lens shifting as well as a large zoom to allow for the maximum in mounting flexibility and ease of use. Also in its brightest mode, it outputs an amazing1600 lumens making it great for those daytime football games.
This all makes a great projector, but these features are also available in far cheaper models. The thing that sets this apart from all of the other projectors in its price range is the amazing 50,000:1 contrast ratio. I never knew how much black levels mattered until I saw the Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 UB in action. While watching the same movie on this projector next to Mitsubishi's HC4900, the blacks on the HC4900 looked almost bright blue in color compared to the onyx tones of the UB. You could see shadows and facial features during the darkest on the UB while the HC4900 everything just looked like a bluish-black blob.
So if you want to get the most out of your 1080p movies the Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 UB is one of the best choices out there.

First Look: Panasonic PT-AX200U
Released on 01-Nov-07
All in all we have not seen a better projector for sports, TV and video games. With this powerful 2000 lumen projector, you can see crisp detail and bright colors even with ambient light in the room. For 720p content you simply cannot beat this projector in overall image quality.
As for 1080p content, this projector beautifully renders Blu-ray and HD-DVD content like no other 720p projector on the market. For $1000 less than even the most affordable 1080p projector you get a wonderful quality image while only sacrificing a bit of the sharpness that is really only noticeable in text and logos.
